Emmanuel Middle School

Year 4 Transition

Welcome to Emmanuel Middle School.

This page designed for those children joining us in
Year 5 in September 2022.

It’s a fantastic time to be joining EMS!

We are absolutely committed to making your child’s first experiences of Emmanuel entirely consistent with our core values of Excellence, Endeavour and Enjoyment. We are confident that we can work together at this time to best support your child as they make a successful transition to middle school.

We have an excellent transition team, all of whom have forged strong relationships with our first schools over the years and a lot of transition work has already taken place between Emmanuel and your child’s first school in order to make their move as smooth as possible.

Key Transition Dates for your diary:

Monday 27th June, 7pm - New Year 5 Induction Evening (primarily for parents). This evening will provide important information regarding EMS and your child’s new class tutor.

Friday 1st July - Transfer day for all new Year 5 pupils (due to start in Sept 2022).

Friday July 1st- Transfer Day!

  • Pupils will meet in the Sports Hall – please arrive between 8:40 - 8.45am. (There will be senior staff to guide you to this area).

  • You can either drop them off or wait with them in the Sports Hall. You will be able to wave them off as they go with their Tutor @ 8.50am

  • Please pick your child up from the Sports Hall at 3:10pm.

  • Please remember that we do not allow cars entry to the School Campus at the start and finish of the school day, but there is plenty of parking on neighbouring roads.

  • What should your child bring to school?

    • wear current school uniform

    • a healthy snack (no nuts please!)

    • a named water bottle

    • a packed lunch - if you are entitled to FSM and have ordered a packed lunch, this will be provided

    • a sensible pencil case

    • These can be carried in a small bag/ rucksack.

    Medication

    • If your child has any medication that they need to have in school (Epipen etc) this can be brought to the office after you have dropped your child off on transfer day as we will need a permission to administer medication form completed.

    • You can then collect the medication at the end of transfer day and then return it to us on the first day of term (we will already have the consent form completed on Transfer Day)

We very much look forward to welcoming you to Emmanuel Middle School and will continue to update this page with our latest transition information.

In the meantime, please do enjoy our virtual tour, narrated by some of our recent Year 5 pupils.
